At DAS Consulting Australia Pty Ltd (DASC), we value the experience, knowledge and training of veterans. I also know that transitioning from Defence into a commercial environment may be more difficult for some than others.
At DASC we specialise in developing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for Asset Intensive Industries, such as Defence, Resources, Transport, Manufacturing, Aerospace and Marine.
ERP is about implementing management systems supported by high end ERP systems such as SAP and IFS. The main purposes of doing this are to improve business performance and provide the advantages of digitization. A veteran’s domain knowledge and experience in military logistics (Maintenance, Engineering and Supply Chain) - or other business skills - is valuable in this space for delivering pragmatic and effective solutions to clients.

I started my Naval career with an apprenticeship and finished my career as a Marine Engineer Officer.
Throughout that time, I spent many years at sea, in shore postings and was lucky enough to polish this off with a posting as Marine Engineering Adviser in the Kingdom of Tonga.
On reflection, this is where I got lucky. Circumstances combined and BHP Aerospace and Engineering implemented a Computerised Maintenance Management System for the Kingdom’s maritime unit.
This helped me to develop new skills to supplement on my marine engineering skills. Eventually I was persuaded into a career that developed further into an Enterprise Resource Planning functional consultant, and eventually establishing DAS Consulting.
Finally, I normalised my knowledge in Maintenance Engineering for the civilian world by completing a post graduate degree at CQU.
I may have got lucky, but the life lesson here was - “Invest in Yourself”.
